Design Editor Mary Ann Pool

I’ve been on the Panther Prints staff for two years now and am living it up. When I began designing, the Mac lab became my arch nemesis. But after two issues I feel like this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.  I enjoy getting the word of issues on campus and around the world to the student body. With a destination of DC in mind, I plan on double majoring in anthropology and international relations. Despite designing almost 24/7, I work selling Arbonne and volunteer at Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls. I enjoy sonic sweet teas, a plethora of Doris Day films and chilling with my family and friends.

Although I work three jobs, newspaper definitely is the most work, but is worth every second of it. Along with writing, I love the beach, yoga and working out. I’m obsessed with sushi and designer jeans and can’t live a day without my phone. Next year will be my first of many years of college. I plan to be an orthodontist and open my own practice. But until then, I just want to have fun and write until my hands hurt.

Steven Buri

At age 18, I have my own business through my website, www.buristudios.com. In addition to my years of experience with costumer service I work five independent, fulfilling jobs, two of which are for more experienced photographers than I, who teach me the ins and the outs of the trade. Another of my jobs is an internship at my Church where I spur the development and growth of several key departments, and yet another is my job with Chick-fil-a, where I learn the importance of costumer service and diligence in the workplace. My current passions include Photography, 3D Art, Psychology, Music Theory, and Writing. While not with family, friends, or working at one of my jobs I enjoy learning these with unparalleled passion and determination as I strive to remain true to my morals and beliefs on a day to day, step by step basis.

Co-Editor-in-Chief Veronica Wyman

I’ve been on the newspaper staff for two years now and I truly love every minute of it. I love to write, report and learn anything I can from teachers or students, so this paper is an especially great fit for me. Being one of the editors of this paper allows me to have a direct connection with every student at Plano East. The Panther Prints gives me the chance to spread campus news or even provoke conversation among my peers, and that’s what the printed word is really all about. I really enjoy journalism and I hope to pursue it as a career. I plan on double majoring in journalism and international relations in college and hopefully someday I will have the opportunity to report on a global scale.

Other than newspaper I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, playing volleyball, shopping, eating frozen yogurt, working out, watching movies and not doing my homework.

Bepasha Munshi

I spent so much of my life writing stories in my journals about people and the world that I don’t really have much to say about my own life. When I’m not writing, I’m almost always reading. In the flow of my imagination, music is just second nature. As I write stories music flows through my head almost never leaving my mouth but it’s always there. I play the violin, the piano, and a little guitar. I have the craziest imagination; it even makes me worry. The only way I know to let my imagination run free is through music, doodling all over everything, and of course writing about the world.

Angela Trinh

You can call me Angela, I’m 17 years young. I would like to say that I know what I am going to do with my life, but honestly, at this point, I have no idea. Me and Hello Kitty grew up together. I’m really into music, and plan to own my own label. If I could spend my whole life going to concerts and shows, I would. I love Zooey Deschanel and Stefani Germanotta, you might know her as Lady GaGa. I’m in FCCLA, Key Club, Student Congress, and the Dance Club. The thing I’m looking forward to most this year is graduation, and it cannot come fast enough. My favorite movies are Wicker Park, 300 Days of Summer, Fight Club, and Little Miss Sunshine. My favorite author is Chuck Palahniuk, and my favorite director is Tim Burton. I’m going to marry a British man. My car’s name is Jasey Rae, Jasey for short, and JC for shorter. Cupcakery cupcakes are THE best. Like, better than Sprinkles. So many famous people are from Texas, like Eva Longoria, Chace Crawford, Hilary Duff, Demi Lovato, and Lance Armstrong, when is it my turn? I hate labels, and I hate being judged before people actually know me. My motto: “If it’s meant to be, it’ll find its way.”

Renee Denlar

This year is my first year in journalism, but I’ve always loved to write. I also love swimming, listening to music, and watching horror movies. My favorite type of music is classic rock and my favorite colors are red, purple, and blue. My favorite animals are zebras and tigers. This is now my sixth year to play the violin in orchestra, and I’m currently learning how to play guitar. I love Italian food, and any type of cinnamon or coconut candy. I want to either do something in the film industry when I grow up, or be a journalist.

Adviser Abby Cole

I have been a journalism adviser for three years, of which two have been at Plano East Senior High School. I received my bachelor’s degree in advertising with a minor in marketing from the University of North Texas. I practiced public relations, advertising and marketing for two years before obtaining my teaching certificate in journalism. I enjoy interacting with students on a daily basis who are as passionate about journalism as I am. The students continually amaze me with their professionalism and dedication in producing a top-quality publication. I also teach yearbook and journalism classes, coach the UIL Journalism Teams, manage the East News Flash and Panther Pause, and do graphic design work for the school activity program.

Outside of school, I prefer to spend my time shopping, exercising, taking photographs and spending time with my friends and family. I have been married for four years and have two dogs, Ellie and Crockett. My husband and I are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first child in April.

Co-Editor-in-Chief Julia Young

I have always known I wanted to be a journalist. In the eighth grade, I joined my school’s miserable newspaper staff The Goodman Gazette. It was horrible. I wrote about the hat ban. Needless to say, that was our only issue. I joined the Panther Prints staff last year as a Copy Editor, and I am Co-Editor-in-Chief this year. I have worked hard to get where I am, and I don’t regret anything. I am in Economics club, but besides that all of my extracurriculars are newspaper. But I don’t mind. It’s something I am extremely dedicated to, and I can see myself doing it for the rest of my life. I am incredibly close to my family. My Mom and my little sister are my two best friends, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I plan to double major in journalism and economics at OU or UT, and hope to become a journalist with focus on economic issues. I am extremely determined to both study abroad in Asia and become an embedded journalist for some portion of my career. Journalism is my passion, and I will go wherever it takes me.

Amber Mallory

Finally reached senior year! I plan on going to Collin College my freshmen year. After that I would like to transfer to Texas A&M. Genghis Grill decided to hire me and I love it. I have a weird obsession with Cherry Coke, especially from Sonic. Too much of my time seems consumed by the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Stars. I currently don’t participate in school activities, besides the paper obviously.

Reece Pritchard

Hello. I’m Reece, that kid who doesn’t fit in well at parties. Other than the newspaper, there really isn’t much to say. Every morning I have my dignity trampled on and pinned to the mat during wrestling. I got the idea that I’d be able to handle the sport after watching Vision Quest. Turned out to be another entry to the long list of mistakes. Newspaper practically tops the chart for my day. I mean classes for me play out like Chuck Berry’s School Days. I’m not a part of any clubs, which I’m sure in some way is damaging my college application’s worthiness. I hate to make another allusion to music and it being a My Chemical Romance video, but I can’t sing, I can’t dance, and I don’t know karate. Other than Bazooka Joe comics, and Charles Bronson movies, I’m out of the loop, dealing with school one day at a time. I prefer Rock ‘n’ Roll High School to High School Musical, and I pretty much sport the Saturday morning baseball-T routinely. As for college, I’d be happy just to move out of my parents’ basement. I look forward to growing up the same way children do, I get to stay up late, eat ice cream for dinner, and I get to see rated-R movies.

Zahra Mitchell

Ello Mate, it’s your friend Zahra here! Even though I’m medically considered a proportionate dwarf, I have a big personality to make up for it. I’m in dance, volleyball, debate, newspaper, Spanish club, amnesty international, and I run a daycare for my church. yes, I am sleep deprived. I guess that’s why my parents still haven’t bought me a car, regardless of the fact that I’m legally an adult, sleeping behind the wheel seems to cause some problems. I want to go to Northwestern University and double major in journalism and psychology. Don’t worry, I’m aware I’m not going to get any more sleep. I haven’t gotten any sleep in all of high school, why start in college?
